James Daniel Mangan (September 24, 1929 – July 19, 2007) was a backup catcher in Major League Baseball who played for two different teams between 1952 and 1956. Listed at 5' 10", 190 lb, Mangan batted and threw right-handed. He was born in San Francisco, California.
Originally, Mangan was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent in 1949 out of Santa Clara University. He played briefly for Pittsburgh in 1952 and 1954, before joining the New York Giants in 1956.
In a three-season career, Mangan was a .153 hitter (9-for-59) with five runs and five RBI without home runs in 45 games.
Following his baseball career, Mangan became a high school teacher and small business owner. He died in his homeland of San Francisco, California at the age of 77.
